UFC 98 and it’s rumoured fight card

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that it in UFC 98 a rematch between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir would be the main event of the event. Brock Lesnar would remember Frank Mir as the man who defeated him in in the main event of UFC 81: Breaking point via tapout on a very well timed kneebar.
The two UFC heavyweight champions would look to unify both title belts in the main event of UFC 98 on May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which would also be available on pay per view.
UFC 98 would also look to put Matt Hughes and Matt Serra on the UFC map again in a much awaited rematch. Other bouts that would be rumoured to take place are that of Frank Edgar versus Sean Sherk in the UFC light weight division and welterweights Chris Wilson versus Josh Koscheck in the UFC welterweight division.

Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir fought in the 2008 event of UFC 81: Breaking point. Brock Lesnar was in his second professional mixed martial arts fight. Brock Lesnar was pitted against the former UFC champion, Frank Mir, who was recovering from a serious motorcycle injury in 2004 which halted his rise to the top in his UFC career. Frank Mir appeared to be losing the fight as Brock Lesnar took the offensive on numerous ground and pound situation only to be timed perfectly by the UFC veteran Frank Mir with a kneebar that forced Brock Lesnar to tapout in the first round of the main event. Up to this day that bout remains the only loss of Brock Lesnar’s career as a professional mixed martial arts fighter.
Since then Brock Lesnar went on to defeat Heath Herring which gave him a title shot with Randy Couture in UFC 91, where Brock Lesnar won via stoppage. Frank Mir however proceeded to defeat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in UFC 92 to win the interim title.
“Brock Lesnar has been calling for a rematch with me ever since I beat him the first time,” Frank Mir stated. “All I can say to Brock is be careful what you wish for because I’m a better, smarter, stronger and faster fighter than I was the last time. He wont be able to push me around like he’s done (to) smaller opponents, and I’m looking forward to becoming undisputed champion again.”
