Shaquille O’Neal may head back to the Los Angeles Lakers

February 10, 2009

shaq-back-to-the-lakersThe epiphany that might be running in Shaquille O’Neal’s head is that he might need to go back to the Los Angeles Lakers to get another NBA Championship ring. With the statements that Phoenix Suns manager Steve Kerr has released, now would be a great time for Shaq to think about his options and how to finish his career. The NBA trading deadline would cause more than a similar blockbuster trade comparable to last year’s mega deal containing the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. The commotion between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal is all over with that set aside we are all looking forward to another possible title run containing these two future Hall of Famers.

Shaquille O’Neal stated that he has not thrown the idea out the window yet and he is still looking forward to a Laker uniform once his contract expires in 2010, which is the year that free agency marks an all time high in NBA history containing marquee players that have the possibility of making a dynasty. LeBron James leads the pack and Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh not so far behind. In recent reports, Shaq has been saying that all the Shaq O’Neal and Kobe Bryant issue was just a stage drama to motivate the then Los Angeles Lakers to play even harder.

“I swear to God we never had a problem,” Shaquille O’Neal said “On the court, we never had a problem. I think it was all designed by Phil,” Shaq added. “Because, if you think about it, Phil never called us into the office and said, `Both of you, shut the (heck) up.’ Never did that in four years. He knew that when I read something, I was going to get upset. And he knew Kobe was going to always come out and play hard.

Once this is all over and if ever Shaq finds his way back to the Los Angeles Lakers then it would be probable that he would settle for a smaller contract and suck it up while being a reserve for Andrew Bynum who is starting to show signs of greatness if not for the continues injuries he gets yearly. The memories of the fabled overpowered NBA team which consisted of Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal would then again surface if this pulls through.

“Now that I look back on it, that (stuff) was kind of fun,” Shaq said. “It really was. It was kind of fun. `What did he say, what did he say?’ I tell people if we would have had a reality show, we’d have had the No. 1 reality show in the world.”It was fun. It was actually fun. (Assistant coach Brian) Shaw would be, `Oh, man, why did you say that?’ And then Karl (Malone) would be like, `Yo, that was (messed) up what you said,’ then we’d try to outdo each other in the game.”

For the meantime we still can bet against the Phoenix Suns were Shaq does really well but the team says otherwise, or bet on the Los Angeles Lakers where Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson are on course to yet another NBA Championship Season.
