Allen Iverson may opt out of his new role
Rumours that Allen Iverson is not taking the off-the-bench role full heartedly is spreading like wildfires. The once dominant little man who started of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers has seen his glory days dwindle to a much simpler role as a substitute player of the bench for the Detroit Pistons.
Allen Iverson has been rumoured to fake his injury following news that he would be coming of the bench for the Detroit Pistons. Richard Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey would be replacing the once phenomenal guard in the Detroit Pistons frontcourt.
Despite the demotion or atleast the loss of Allen Iverson in recent games, the Detroit Pistons are still trying to climb up the ladder in the NBA Eastern Conference which was once their turf. Now the Detroit Pistons are barely making the NBA Playoffs and look to rebuild after the 2008 – 2009 NBA Regular Season is over. The Detroit Pistons are surely missing the services of Chauncey Billups who was dealt earlier in the NBA Regular Season to the Denver Nuggets who by far have the better end of that deal.
Coach Michael Curry has stated that he can tell a lie, especially when it concerns his players on the Detroit Pistons team. Michael Curry said that although Allen Iverson says that the demotion is fine and that it is for the betterment of the team is just a cover up as to what Allen Iverson really feels.
The move on part of the Detroit Pistons may have its blessing in disguise as it may give better rotation for the team and that Allen Iverson hopefully embraces the role of 6th man. As hard as it may seem for the former NBA MVP, the Detroit Pistons may need some help of the bench.
Worse comes to worst, the Detroit Pistons may look to trade Allen Iverson to any team who would like to take the services of Allen Iverson in the off-season. The last hope for a NBA Championship for Allen Iverson was back when he was with the Philadelphia 76ers and those days are long gone. If Allen Iverson, one of the most marketable NBA Players, decides to transfer and keep the drama alive this NBA Regular Season then it would be best that he settle for a bench role with some other NBA title contender.
