Is Allen Iverson going to the Memphis Grizzlies?
August 28, 2009

One thing’s for sure, he’s getting desperate.
We are two months away from the 2009 NBA basketball season and yet the eight-time All-Star Allen Iverson is yet to be a part of any NBA team. Apparently, the worst season of his career has really taken quite a toll on his reputation and many NBA teams no longer see him as that fiery point guard who virtually changed the way the position is played.
After a dismal year in Detroit, Allen Iverson is hunting for any vacancies NBA teams can open up for him. And as of this writing, the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies have all expressed their interest.
According to Iverson’s posts on his Twitter account, his people are close to a deal with one of these teams although he didn’t specify which one. Yup, like Shaq, Iverson is just going nuts with the social networking site and you wouldn’t believe how desperate the once flashy point guard has become to stay in the NBA.
”My people just informed me that we are getting close to a deal. I asked them to call me when its done. I am so ready to know!” said a post on Iverson’s Twitter account late Wednesday morning.
The next post, 18 minutes later, said, ”I have not been this eager with anticipation since the night before the NBA Draft in 96. Then I knew where I was going, now I want to know.”
Here are more posts from Iverson’s Twitter. And yes, his desperation gets worse with every post.
”If you think that I am just going away – Think again! I am getting ready for the NBA season. Waiting for the call. Charlotte, Miami, NY.”
”Getting in shape, running, lifting and thinking about which team that I will help compete for a championship! Whoever gets me will be happy.”
”I have had a year to get ready, my back is fine now don’t worry. When you see me again you will think that I am fresh out of Georgetown!”
”I have heard all of the doubters, but they should know that I will not be broken and I will remain true to my fans.”
Somebody sign this guy quick, because if these teams keep him waiting some more, he won’t be having any fans left to stay true to.
