Juan Manuel Marquez still is hoping for another crack at Manny Pacquiao
Juan Manuel Marquez successfully took on the challenge of “Baby Bull” otherwise known as Juan Diaz. Juan Manuel Marquez was coming of a KO victory against Joel Casamayor for The Ring lightweight championship belt. The first knockout defeat of Joel Casamayor came at the hands of the fighter that is ranked unanimously next to Kingpin Manny Pacquiao.
Freddie Roach, the legendary trainer of Manny Pacquiao took the side of Juan Manuel Marquez when asked who would emerge victorious in the WBA Lightweight Title bout. Freddie Roach even stated that Juan Diaz had the hand speed yet has little boxing experience to figure out what it takes to defeat Juan Manuel Marquez.
Juan Diaz had his moments in the fight as he appeared to stagger Juan Manuel Marquez in the middle of the second round. Juan Diaz then opened a cut above the right eye of Juan Manuel Marquez, giving the impression that Juan Manuel Marquez was having a hard time keeping up with the younger and faster opponent. The fight then came to it’s turning point when Juan Manuel Marquez opened a cut above the right eye of Juan Diaz at the end of the eight round giving way to the furious 9th round stoppage of the young fighter.
After the fight, Juan Diaz admitted that he had a hard time seeing from his right eye after the gash. The similar turn of events was comparable to the Nate Campbell fight that Juan Diaz also lost.
This all boils down to what Juan Manuel Marquez really wants…
Another fight against pound for pound kingpin Manny Pacquiao.
Despite Juan Manuel Marquez stating over and over again that he would not force the issue of another fight against Manny Pacquiao, we can all clearly see where this is going. Juan Manuel Marquez then stated that he would try to lure Floyd Mayweather Jr. to come out of retirement.
Manny Pacquiao would be trying the same offer if he successfully dispatches Ricky Hatton in their upcoming May 2 megabuck fight. If and when Floyd Mayweather comes out of retirement, it surely would not be to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. Manny Pacquiao is the only fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. would fight since the money would be on the man who defeated Oscar De La Hoya in a furious and convincing way.
