Miguel Cotto has a big chance of fighting Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao and his team have openly expressed their interest in the one time pound for pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the past few months prior to the Ricky Hatton fight. As things have shaped up entering the Ricky Hatton fight which is scheduled to be on May 2, Freddie Roach clarified that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is no in the radar of Team Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao on the other hand has entered his training camp without the services of Freddie Roach as of press time. Freddie Roach will be flying to England to be in the corner of Amir Khan who is scheduled to fight former Manny Pacquiao rival, Marco Antonio Barrera.

Some surprising news however puts Bernard Hopkins who was seen to call Manny Pacquiao’s previous fight against Oscar De La Hoya to be stopped in the 7th or 8th round of the contest in favour of the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya, is now heard to take the side of Manny Pacquiao on the May 2 main event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bernard Hopkins otherwise known as “The Executioner” stated that Manny Pacquiao would emerge victorious against Ricky Hatton.

Freddie Roach also confirmed reports that Iron Mike Tyson gave him a call asking if there was still room for him in Team Pacquiao. It was noted in the Oscar De La Hoya – Manny Pacquiao fight that Mike Tyson showed up on the last day of Manny Pacquiao’s training camp. The former Boxing Heavyweight champion was in awe of the Filipino’s unrelenting stamina and work ethic. Freddie Roach however declined the offer of his former pupil since he has already tapped the services of former heavyweight Michael Moorer.

What sparks some interest though for boxing enthusiasts is that if Manny Pacquiao wins his upcoming fight, Freddie Roach was quoted to have incredible interest in Miguel Cotto. Miguel Cotto also has confirmed to have Manny Pacquiao on the top of his head in choosing which opponent he would face next. Shane Mosley also sparked some interest in the Filipino ring icon, but a fight against Miguel Cotto would just keep the boxing world in a frenzy it never has experienced since the days of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
