Superstars in free agency barely exist in NBA

LeBron James and Jay-Z

The NBA teams are coming for LeBron James in 2010.

The NBA team executives are moving with conviction just to get LeBron James, LeBron James would be the biggest draw of the free agent roster as Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would also be available in that time, LeBron James who in 17 months time would be the most sought after NBA free agent in modern history. The NBA Teams would try to lure all these talent into one unbeatable roster as the salary cap space which some NBA teams are setting free amidst the freakishly lousy season some NBA teams are partaking in. The New York Knicks have already cleared their 2010 salary cap space to start chasing after LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers phenom, and other free agents in the fray like Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors.

Most NBA Teams would start to waive contracts and clear more salary cap space to further entice LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to sign with their team. However based on NBA history, it is rare that most superstar free agents take a pass on their current team for a bigger pay check the last know switch was 13 years ago when Shaquille O’Neal opted out of the Orlando Magic and changed the NBA competitive ladder by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers where he won 3 of his 4 NBA Championship rings. Like they say, history repeats itself and could it be that LeBron James would opt out of Cleveland and go to New York or New Jersey where long time friend and rapper Jay-Z is a part owner.

There are also some reports that the New Jersey Nets are going to make it by 2010 and transfer their franchise to Brooklyn where LeBron James has dreamt of playing. If ever that happens it would also be likely that Chris Bosh would follow suit as to make the New Jersey Nets or shall we christen them as the Brooklyn Nets a contender for another NBA Dynasty.

The NBA’s collective bargaining agreement states that an NBA player who stays with his team can sign a six-year contract with 10.5 percent raises. If the NBA player leaves, he is limited to five years and 8 percent raises. Which simply means that an NBA player like LeBron James would simply have to receive about $31 million in guaranteed salary to sign a maximum contract with any other team besides the Cleveland Cavaliers.
