Ultimate Fighter 10 coaches to finally fight?

January 11, 2010

Well, that’s what they’re working on.

After barely escaping the third round to beat Thiago Silva via unanimous decision at UFC 108, UFC president Dana White already has plans for Rashad Evans’ next fight and that’s a light heavyweight grudge match with rival Quentin Rampage Jackson for UFC 113 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

You read it, Rashad Evans wants a shot at Rampage and Dana White is more than happy to give it to him. And since he just barely edged Silva, a collision course with Rampage was only a matter of time before Evans goes after a shot at the title.

Rashad Evans wants a shot at Quentin Rampage Jackson so bad that he admitted he wants Rampage more than a shot at the light heavyweight title at this point.

”Getting to fight him [Rampage] would be a good opportunity to say the least,” Evans said at the UFC 108 post-fight press conference.

Evans admits he wants to fight Rampage more than getting a shot at the title. After all, a fight with Rampage at UFC 113 means a hefty payday anyway. If Evans were to take the shot at the light heavyweight title, it would be in the late summer the earliest, THAT’s if the winner in the Machida – Shogun rematch come out unscathed.

Besides, Evans believes he isn’t ready for another shot at the title anyway.

”It’s always great to fight for a belt, but I think I need one more fight to integrate everything I’ve been working on so that when I do get a title shot, no one will beat me,” Evans said.

Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson were supposed to fight at UFC 107 in Memphis, Rampage’s hometown. Unfortunately, Jackson had to pull out of the fight after accepting a movie role as B.A. Barcus in the upcoming movie, ”The A-Team.”

The cancellation of the fight caused a public feud between Rampage and UFC president Dana White, forcing Jackson to publicly announce his retirement from MMA to pursue his acting career. Then Jackson announced his return in December, citing a fight with rival Rashad Evans as the main reason for his comeback.

UFC 113 is expected to take place on May 1, 2010 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. But before Evans takes on Rampage at the other side of the border, Randy ”The Natural” Couture is scheduled to take on Mark ”The Hammer” Coleman at UFC 109: Relentless.
