Will the Philadelphia Eagles start Michael Week on Sunday?
September 24, 2009

Um… Probably not.
But on him OFFICIALLY returning to the field on Week 3 of the 2009 NFL football season, that’s a certainty since NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has finally cleared Vick to play for the Eagles on the third week of the season.
That’s right, Michael Vick will be officially back in the National Football League. After a surprise signing by the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 13 with a one-year deal for $1.6 million with a team option for a second year at $5.2 million, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been cleared to return in week 3 of the regular season.
”We’re looking for a success story here,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who announced his decision last week in a question – and – answer session with writers. ”We would like to see him be successful, and this is a transition to hopefully maximize the opportunity for him to be successful.”
You can bet your ass the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization is hoping for the same.
Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007 after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback admitted bankrolling a dogfighting operation on his property in Virginia. At the time, Goodell said Vick must show remorse before he would consider reinstating him.
Vick was released from federal custody July 20 after serving 18 months of a 23-month prison sentence for his role in running a dogfighting ring in Virginia. Previously, Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by no later than Week 6.
”I’ve been trying to show him that I’m moving in the right direction,” Vick said of Goodell. ”I’m changing my life for the better.”
”It highlights the tremendous microscope this man is under,” Goodell said. ”He understands he has little margin for error. It served as a useful lesson.”
But will Andy Reid play him over Kolb? After Week 2’s frustrating loss to the Saints, let’s hope he does.
